about

mission

Hi, I’m Zia. At its heart, Collision is about two things:

  • inspiring the production of remarkable ideas, and
  • works of art created through unexpected (sometimes unusual) collaborations

Collision is an interactive multimedia experience and it’s also a fundraiser.

Ticket proceeds will go to Haiti Relief.  Proceeds from the soundtrack will go to Words, Beats, and Life.  Proceeds from the book will go to Hollaback DC.

performance

Collision is a performance. It will take place at the Bethesda Theater’s Cabaret Stage in Bethesda, MD on March 6th, 2010 at 10pm. The show will consist of music, theater, movement, magic, film, poetry, and much more. Tickets are $15. Half of the ticket money will go to supporting the theater, and the rest of it will support the victims of the Haiti earthquake. We’ll be doing frequent offers/free tickets through social media (twitter/facebook). The show will also feature some of my songs, which you can download here for free. This show will also function as my 25th birthday party. There’s nothing I want more than to sell out the cabaret theater (100 tickets).

Some of the performances include:

  • a 5 minute musical, in 3 movements
  • a sonic experiencing involving the sound of your backyard
  • an interactive installation where the audience becomes the artist
  • stories told through magic
  • songs illustrated by visuals
  • duets and song collaborations
  • a one act consisting of only lines from Twitter
  • an electronic/folk collaboration
  • kids who want to change the world
  • a webcam performance from Israel
  • a ukulele trio
  • music created with only an iPhone
  • and much more

soundtrack

The soundtrack to the performance will be available from the Collision Store before March 6th. Check out our Artists page to see who’ll be on it. The digital download will also feature bonus material, such as videos used in the show and an eBook of photography/poetry. It will also contain music that may have not been used in the performance. The money sold from the soundtrack will be donated to Words, Beats, & Life.

book

The Collision Book will feature the work of many photographers, who will be collaborating with writers/poets to add words to still images. The money from this project will go to Hollaback DC.
